Research in limbo - Liminar Investigations in Memory and Brain Organization - ideally self-organizes around any issue, in the evolution of our nervous system and of its capabilities, which can be approached with dramatically simplified mathematical models in the spirit of statistical physics. We have looked at the transition to the mammalian forms of the hippocampus and neocortex, at spatial codes, at what sets the time scale for recurrent dynamics, at Potts networks and we are currently drifting into language.
